Case Study Area Lombardy kicks off activties with meeting in Milan
The ProPollSoil Case Study Areas have kicked off their activities by organising first meetings with CSA partners and stakeholders. The first of the Case Study Areas to begin their activities was the CSA Lombardy / Milano, which also serves as a Living Lab in the EU funded Butterfly project.
The kick-off meeting was hosted by “Bosco in Città”, in Milan in January 2026, one of the local partners involved in the CSA activities. Led by CSA lead Paolo Biela from Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca (UMIB), stakeholders and farmers were invited to discover the project’s objectives, expected impacts and planned activities. The meeting served as an opportunity to present the project vision, foster dialogue among participants, and encourage an open discussion on local expectations, challenges and ideas. The event represented an important first step in building a collaborative network focused on sustainable soil management and pollinator protection. Following an introductory presentation illustrating the project, a central part of the event was dedicated to interaction with stakeholders, who actively contributed their perspectives, experiences, and suggestions through open discussions and exchanges. The dialogue focused on management practices supporting pollinators and biodiversity, challenges related to soil management, and the role of environmental policies in promoting sustainable activities and preserving ecosystems.
Participants shared practical experiences, local knowledge, and reflections on opportunities and barriers linked to the implementation of sustainable practices, creating a valuable moment of mutual learning and exchange among participants. A conference bag and a plaque certifying participation in the project were also provided to attendees. The meeting concluded with an aperitif, offering an informal networking opportunity that further encouraged discussion and collaboration among participants.
